British Aiways was founded in 1924, called "Imperial Airways" initially. The carrier has grown to become on of World's largest airlines. According to certain criteria, BA is the number 1 airline, but figures vary and the word "large" is a pretty relative term. We have analyzed their site, the review is below
Website & online booking services
Despite its size and importance, British Airways doesn't impress us with its site. When you enter www.britishairways.com, you select your location from a huge drop-down box... It's difficult, there are too many similar options for visitors besides the drop-down box, one might ask himself if he should select the country from the list of links or the drop-down options... From then on, it's pretty much the same site, only that the local language mixes with English in the topics. It's rather disorganized, one finds mostly English material mixed with the local language, confusing indeed. Otherwise, services are usual, nothing impressive. The US and the UK sections (pages dedicated to these countries) are the most well organized, they're in English, of course. Pretty much all that should be in other languages is a mix-up. The booking engine is good, but not comprehensive enough to less experienced users. The British Airways site is well behind KLM, Qantas, Malév, Cathay Pacific and many others... Overall we believe they're worth 4 starts out of 10.
