    Hotwire's site is similar to most online booking sites. As you enter, you'll find the booking form that allows you to purchase the services: plane tickets, car rentals, hotels, vacation packages, cruises. There's a "deals & destinations" section, there you can find the best travel deals available, this way low cost vacations, cheap plane tickets are just a few clicks away, you won't have to wonder around or type in your details too many times to search for prices.

    Another great idea that hotwire has implemented is the fact that you can purchase combined trips: flight+hotel or hotel+car or other combinations. This is better than in the case of airline sites, for instance, where the airfares are primary and all the rest secondary (which means hotel services usually have lower quality and higher price with the airlines, especially in the case of major airlines, flag carriers). The combined services are very cheap indeed: many of them are vacations, trips to Western Europe, often around 600 $, flight and hotel included. This is an extremely low level for such services, keep in mind that departure locations are in the US.

    Hotwire is a good site, good design, but nothing special, offers many basic travel services, however lacks services for users who live outside the US.
