Korean Air - analysis, information, review

    Company overview

          Airline review: Korean Air

Korean Air is one of the largest carriers in the Far East.

With its immense fleet, the flag carrier connects Korea with the rest of the World.

With over 100 airplanes in its fleet, this airline lines up with the largest airlines in the World.

Over the years, Korean Air has had several safety standards-related problems.

In the early '90s, the airline was considered to have one of the lowest safety levels amongst major airlines in the World. Throughout its history, Korean Air has had 21 major incidents. Most of them were relatively minor accidents.

In the early '90s, due to safety issues, Air Canada, Delta Airlines and Air France have suspended their codeshare agreement with Korean Air.

    Website & online booking services

The online booking engine is a bit strange, you can only choose the class type after you hit the search button. The classes have confusing names: Economy, First and Prestige. The question is what's First and what's prestige, at Korean Air? The conventional names for airline classes are: Economy, Business and First. However, some airlines, like Korean Air, like to re-name them, but this practice has tremendous disadvantages, it confuses clients seeking plane tickets. If the airline would rename the whole line, it wouldn't be that confusing. At least all of them would have different names and the client would learn, which is the equivalent of Economy Class, Business Class and First Class.

Many airlines call Business Class "First Class" and, First Class is given some other name.

Korean Air's "Prestige" sounds like the highest class... Think of it: economy, first, prestige.

So how's the class thing with Korean Air?

At Korean Air, the classes are these: Economy = Economy, Prestige = Business, First = First. Now you won't get confused.

The Sky Pass section is the Korean Air frequent flyer program.

The travel planning section offers a route map, a flight schedule, advance seat selection services, there's also a promotion subsection and also, and e-tickets-related section. E-tickets are revolutionizing how airplane tickets are sold: these are electronic tickets, cheaper than the conventional paper plane tickets. You'll find out more about them, on the Korean Air site.
